end of the golden weather [LISTEN]

May 19th, 2010 by michael

We didn’t quite realise it was the last show. Heh. But yeah it turns out that was it! Few too many F words near the end of the show, my bad.

This weekend is the last for fleet so tune in and hear everyone getting sentimental and that. Friday till Sunday, the last you’ll ever hear the station in action.

Listen in Sunday 1-2pm we’ve been allocated a little spot to have one last time to broadcast with fleetfm. *Sniff*

Don’t really do goodbyes.

m&t mart’s 10 out of 10 [TOP 5]

April 22nd, 2010 by michael

T: These five songs are great

1. The Radio Dept. - Heart on Fire

Hot damn if this track doesn’t make you happy then I don’t know what will! It’s like waking up in the morning with a warm blanket (or person) wrapped around you and realising that you don’t have to face the day quite yet.

2. James Pants - Thin Moon

Trippy, spacey, psychedelic, far out man…ok, so those words possibly make it sound like it is shit but it’s actually awesome. His label pal Mayer Hawthorne does a pretty stink cover of this which I advise to avoid.

3. Das Racist - You Oughta Know

I pretty much have the maturity level of a 12 year old so having someone make funny noises over a sample of a lady singing is gold to me.

4. Grizzly Bear - Plans

These guys are amazing, sure this isn’t a new track but every time you listen to an album of theirs you are guaranteed to find a little hidden gem that you may have overlooked before. Also the other day on the ol’ facebookery someone has created a group which is trying to bring these fullas to NZ. Dream. Come. True.

5. Hot Chip - I feel Bonnie (Club Version)

In da cluuuuuuuuuuuuub. But really. It’s a winner of a dancey track, this time Hot Chip decided to team up with Bonnie Prince Billy to do a remix of one of their own songs. It works really well and definitely one for the dance floors.

M: The lovin’ five

Quadron – Slippin’

take my word for this one. It’s good. Real good. From Demark. On the Plug Research label. i don’t know how to discribe it… it’s a lady singing, essence of motown maybe, you know, how they used chains for the beat? hmm..  It tastes like a your favourite flavour milkshake! that it!

dwight trible and the life force trio – constellations.

This is niceness, the whole ‘love is the answer’ album is, as is the answer. It is old, 2005. but they still making nice noises. Good morning music.

Erykah Badu - Fall In Love (Your Funeral)

This jam is BUMPIN’! It is theee hot damn! Anyone who knows the woman’s day type goss about her will know it makes all them mens look like darn fools. Lady’s got power.

J-Live - The Way That I Rhyme

Love the hook in this one. J does it again. Once you start dancing you can’t quit. Running man as! Lyrically always on point and to the point. you can hear it at http://j-livemusic.com/ and while your at it check out ‘the upgrade’, love that one to.

Guilty Simpson – Killer (Oh No remix)

Guilty the genuine article for sure. However this beat is bad ass! The bit that sounds like a kid or something? I don’t know, but it certainly makes this track more sinister. right click here and save target as. thanks to www.stonesthrow.com

-you’ll hear most these songs in the shows below.

in your face Sunrise! [LISTEN]

April 12th, 2010 by michael

Here is the latest show recorded today. We got something for everyone with profesh hosting from Talia and myself, and, it’s wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Sunrise! (and way more humble). They couldn’t compete and submitted to our greatness. The following is the media statement from TV3 discussing their reasons for ending Sunrise:

“Talia and Michael have created an amazing breakfast show that pretty much made us all look like a bunch of amateur chumps who talk a load of ass fluff. With no budget at all A Breakfast Show Named Tuesday did what we could never achieve, that is, have an entertaining show [ZING!]. With people continuing to switch of their televisions in favour for some REAL ass shit on Fleet FM how could we compete? The answer was we couldn’t.” -TV3

Peace(R.I) to The Blah Blah Blah radio show! This show has always putt so much effort in. go check their blog out. http://blahblahblah.fleetfm.com/

indian fan number one [TOP 5]

April 8th, 2010 by michael

Current Enjoyments

Parallel Dance Ensemble – Weight Watches

PDE is MC Coco of legendary Coco Solid and Robin Hannibal. This track is addictive listening. The more I play it the more I love it. “I eat my candy, makes me feel alright, I hold my candy, till my jeans are tight” video clip is fantastic as well, Liquorice Allsorts for levels! Genius and award winning.

Reflection Eternal ft. Estelle – Midnight Hour

Tracks got that ol timey flavour. Very danceable and proved to be a hit when thrown into the mix. Hi tech is highly talented to pull this one off. Estelle always winning in cameos. Talib kills it!

MC Lyte – 10% Dis

“After this jam I really don’t give a damn!” “tell it to your face you aint nothing but a faker”. Too young to catch this one first time round, but had always heard her being cut into tracks since, and now it all connects. MC Lyte = Def, Fresh, Ahead of the game.

JAKK FROST & FREEWAY – FREE MONEY MIXTAPE [ITS FREE]

BIGGEST BEARDS IN THE BUSINESS. FINEST SLICES OFF THIS MIXTAPE HAVE GOT TO BE ‘FREEWAY – CHIEF ROCKA’ AND ‘JAKK FROST – IN THE M F’.

AND YES IT HAD TO BE WRITTEN IN CAPS.

Snoop Dogg ft Mayer Hawthorne – Gangsta Luv

Reminds me of all those times we would roll round listening to Mai FM… ahhh those were the sweet years of our luv, our gangsta luv.

Songs that rule:

Here we go magic – collector

Jingly jangly up beat city. This song is a tune for dancin’ to that’s for sure.

Born Ruffians – Sole brother

This guys got a weird voice, I like that. The guitar sounds cool in this, like all bippity boppity. I like that too.

Best Coast – The sun was high (so was I)

This song is exactly what the title says. Reminiscing about sunny days, high on…life, with some awkward guy you like hanging about in the background.

Inell Young – What do you see in her

Some cool dude played this song the other night and it reminded me of how much this song is a winner, it’s a funky little number and according to Michael, Black Thought from The Roots does a good as song that samples this.
